چکیده
Purpose While most of the children who are identified as late talkers at age 2 years catch up with their peers before school age, some continue to have language difficulties and will later be having developmental disorder. Our understanding which do not is limited. The aim current study was find out if inhibition associated talker outcomes age. Method We recruited 73 school-aged (ages 7–10 years) a history talking ( n = 38) or typical development 35). Children completed measures skills flanker task measure inhibition. School-age outcome measured continuous variable. Results analyses did reveal associations between school-age index talking. However, stronger were shorter overall response times on task, in both congruent incongruent trials. This effect modulated by talking, suggesting that relationship general similar early talkers. Conclusions Inhibition related outcomes. better had times. interpret this reflect differences processing speed, speed holds promise for predicting development. Reading and metaphonological outcomes in late talkers.
Children with a history of slow expressive language development (SELD) were followed to second grade, at which point outcomes in terms of speech, language, cognitive skills, reading achievement, and metaphonological performance were evaluated. Although there were some statistically significant differences between groups, children with a history of SELD generally performed within the normal rang...

Children with slow expressive language development (SELD) as toddlers and a control group of children with normal language development (NL) were followed to early school age. Children with SELD were, at that point, subdivided into two groups: those who had moved within the normal range of expressive language (the History of Expressive Language Delay [HELD] subgroup); and those who continued to ...
متن کاملHyperleptinaemia rather than fasting hyperinsulinaemia is associated with obesity following hypothalamic damage in children.
BACKGROUND Obesity following hypothalamic damage is often severe and resistant to lifestyle changes. Disruption of hypothalamic feedback mechanisms that maintain energy homeostasis may be responsible for this intractable obesity. Adipocytokines including insulin and leptin are also known to be important regulators of appetite and weight. OBJECTIVE To investigate the role of insulin, leptin, a...
